H.B. Goodlin Scholarship Auditions

Date: April 24, 2010

Purpose: To honor outstanding San Diego County music students

Location: Grossmont College, Rooms 220 & 225, 8800 Grossmont College Dr., El Cajon, CA 92020

Application Deadline: Postmarked April 9th, 2010, No Exceptions

ELIGIBILITY:

A social security number must be supplied to receive an award. Applicants must be residents of San Diego County for at least one year prior to the preliminary audition date. The teacher does NOT have to be a member of MTAC.

AGE:

Junior Instrumental and Keyboard -under age 14 on date of finals.

Senior Instrumental and Keyboard, 14-18 years old

Application Fees: Junior - $30.00 Senior - $40.00

Performance Categories: Keyboard (Piano or Organ), Junior and Senior Divisions

Instrumental, Junior and Senior Divisions

REPERTOIRE:

1. Applicants must present two solo compositions from the standard literature representing different periods and styles, i.e. Baroque, Classic, Romantic, Impressionistic, Contemporary. Instrumentalists and singers must provide their own accompanists.

2. An Applicant may not use music which he/she has performed previously in a scholarship audition for the H.B. Goodlin Foundation.

3. All music must be memorized, except for accompanied sonatas. Organists may perform one of the two selections with music

4. Applicants must provide judges with an original copy of music to be performed. Photocopied scores are not permitted. Any contestant presenting photo copies will automatically be disqualified.

JUDGING PROCEDURE:

The panel will consist of qualified, impartial judges. They will have the right to withhold scholarships in the event that performance standards are not met. The competition is open to the public, but may not be videotaped or photographed. There will be an open winners recital to be scheduled at a later date. Winners will appear on the MTAC website.

AWARDS:

Prize money will be allocated by the H.B. Goodlin Foundation.
